Altha Cravey, Associate Professor of Geography

In January, 2014, the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) will be twenty years old. This talk reflects on the legacy and ongoing impact of NAFTA, focusing on three distinct types of movements: social mobilization; transnational migrations; and the rhythmic bodily movements of devotional and non-devotional (recreational) dancers. Cravey suggests that all three movements illuminate an alternative geography of NAFTA “from below.”
