During the 20th century, soccer emerged as the world’s most popular team sport. In Latin America, however, football is so much a part of life that it is often closely intertwined in the greater political and social fabric of each nation. Josh Nadel unpacks the politics of the popular sport and explains its appeal and the myriad fascinating intersections between politics and athletics.
