Justice Corrupted: How the Drug War Wastes Money and Ruins Lives

The US War on Drugs is entering its fourth decade. Over that time, asset forfeitures, incarceration, militarization of police forces, and drug testing have been constant features of public policy—with their effects often most felt by minority citizens and communities. This lecture will review the economic and personal effects of a prolonged criminal justice approach to the problem of drug use in the United States, and suggest that a more sensible policy would lead to saved funds and lives.
