Lee Weisert, Assistant Professor of Music

Composer Lee Weisert will discuss two recent sound installations he presented as part of UNC’s campus-wide “Water In Our World” initiative. “The Argus Project” is a site-specific sound installation that uses underwater microphones beneath the surface of a pond in conjunction with environmental sensor data to create an immersive musical composition. “Cryoacoustic Orb” involves multiple large spheres of ice with microphones frozen inside of them. An evolving soundscape is created from the complex acoustic rhythmic and frequency content of the melting ice. Weisert will also provide an overview of some of his other recent electronic and instrumental musical compositions.
