Thinking Historically about the Cuba-U.S. Rapprochement

Over the summer of 2015, the United States and Cuba reopened their embassies in each other’s country—the first time in over fifty years that normal diplomatic relations have been established. What does this mean for the future of the Cuba-U.S. relations, and what elements of the past still need to be addressed? Join Louis Pérez as he explains the history behind the Cold War isolation of Cuba and its impact, as well as the opportunities and limitations of this new era of rapprochement.
