Steven Meshnick, Professor of Epidemiology, Gillings School of Global Public Health

Epidemiologist Steve Meshnick explains how public health systems conduct surveillance for emerging infectious diseases and the tools they have to limit their spread. He will discuss his work in fighting malaria in tropical climates and risks to public health at home. Although headlines about contagious diseases capture our attention for a while, maintaining vigilance – and perspective – is often difficult.
