2012 Election Series—Post-Election Supreme Court Analysis

With the Citizens United case and the upholding of “Obamacare,” the Supreme Court has jumped into the national political scene frequently in the last few years, but the politicization of the Court is nothing new. Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes once described the Supreme Court as the “storm center” of controversy in American politics. This lecture, the last of our 2012 Election Series, will focus on how presidents select justices to the Court and how recent decisions helped shape the debate and outcome of the 2012 presidential election. It will also look forward to potential changes in the court in the next presidential term.
