Courage as a Cornerstone of Leadership

Moral courage, or the capacity to act on principle despite possible consequence, is considered a key to leading with integrity. In the current academic climate of financial pressures, media scrutiny, and campus activism, courage is increasingly critical to university leaders. From her vantage point as director of the Academic Leadership Program at UNC’s Institute for the Arts and Humanities, Kimberly Strom-Gottfried will consider the personal and organizational barriers to courage, the unique aspects of leadership in higher education, and the significant role that courage plays in contemporary organizations.

TIME: 4:30 to 6:00 p.m.

All Humanities in Action events take place at Flyleaf Books in Chapel Hill. There are no preparatory readings for these events.

Program Tuition: Register ahead of time and pay $18.00 per program or pay only $8 if you are a member of the UNC General Alumni Association (GAA).
