Table Talk: Themes from Sondheim’s Assassins
Thursday, March 20, 2014
Offered in Conjunction with PlayMakers Repertory Company’s production of Steven Sondheim’s Assassins (opens April 2)
Come enjoy a fine meal at City Kitchen with stimulating conversation guaranteed! Headlined by David G. Frey Distinguished Professor of Music, Tim Carter, this event will feature short prompts from scholars on themes in Assassins, Steven Sondheim’s musical about political murder and fame in America. Guided discussions over a four-course meal will be interspersed with cast appearances. There is only one rule to follow during the evening: after informal introductions, we challenge all guests to stay on topic! This will be an event unlike any we’ve offered, so come and join in a night of reflection and dialogue on politics, fame, art, and violence, and everything in between.
