Formerly a project of LEARN NC, ANCHOR (A North Carolina History Online Resource) is maintained by the NC Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (specifically, the State Library of North Carolina.) It covers North Carolina history, from the arrival of the first people some 12,000 years ago to the 21st century, and is meant to serve as a free, quality online resource for primary sources, historical content, lesson plans, and more to support North Carolina’s teachers and students.

In partnership with the North Caroliniana Society, Carolina K-12 continues to create lessons and activities for the various topics covered in ANCHOR, which teachers will find linked throughout. (Please note that Carolina K-12 does not manage the content of the site itself; questions or suggestions for the historical entries should be directed to the State Library at https://www.ncpedia.org/contact.)

All Carolina K-12 materials linked throughout ANCHOR can also be found in our Database of K-12 Resources.
