DIRT. Art and Life Beneath our Feet.
March 6 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
in collaboration with The ArtsCenter in Carrboro
Join us for an unconventional learning-making-tasting exploration as we dig into dirt to find poetry, history, art, and nourishment. We’ll consider dirt through three short presentations by UNC scholars from different disciplines. We’ll also get our hands dirty as we shape earth into art with the ArtsCenter’s ceramics instructor using locally sourced clay. Botanist and Barrel Cidery will be on site sharing the stories behind their products and offering cider for purchase. Parents are welcome! We’ll offer simultaneous art programming and snacks for kids led by ArtsCenter staff.
FEATURING
Camille Goldmon, Assistant Professor, UNC Department of History
Fred Joiner, former Carrboro Poet Laureate
Hallie Brew, UNC Student working with the Equal Justice Initiative
Taryn Revoir, ArtsCenter Ceramicist
