Doomed From the Start: Two Decades of Failed American Policy in Afghanistan

September 22, 2021 @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

featuring David H. Schanzer, Professor of the Practice in the Sanford School of Public Policy, Duke University, and Director of the Triangle Center on Terrorism and Homeland Security

This hybrid lecture series will focus on the role of truth and misinformation in society. Lectures will be held 3:30–5:00 pm on Wednesdays. Your registration fee of $20 ($15 for GAA) lets you attend in person at Flyleaf Books or virtually via Zoom. A Season Pass is available for $80 ($65 GAA).

This series has long been our forum for “topics in the news,” and we continue that tradition with five talks that speak to challenges we face in America today, or subjects that are difficult to discuss in a heated political environment. Each lecture will be accompanied by a question and answer session with the presenter. Please be sure to verify the dates and times for all CPH events this spring as circumstances change quickly.

Click here or call 919.962.1544 to register!

**Please note that due to UNC regulations, masks will be required for all in-person events regardless of vaccination status. In-person and hybrid events may switch to virtual-only based upon recommendations from local, state, and national public health officials. If an in-person or hybrid event is designated “virtual-only,” the CPH staff will contact registrants and provide them with information on how to attend virtually or with options for receiving credits or refunds. If you have any questions, please email human@unc.edu or call 919.962.1544. We appreciate your flexibility during these trying times.**
