Representing Farms in American Art: A Community Discussion

July 31, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Representing Farms in American Art: A Community Discussion

**Free and open to all!**

How do American visual artists represent farms and farmers in their work? How do artistic depictions of farming compare to our personal experiences of farms? What does the history of art reveal about shifting cultural perceptions of rural America over time? These are just a few of the questions we’ll consider during this community discussion. Join us on July 31st from 6:00-7:30 pm at Spring Haven Farm to think with your neighbors about art, farms, history, and culture.

Joining us to share their expertise and lead our discussion:

  • Maggie Cao, Ph.D., assistant professor of art history at UNC-Chapel Hill
  • Ceiran Crihfield, operations manager at Spring Haven Farm
  • Lisa Harris, local artist and owner of Triangle Face Painting

Organized with the support of Carolina Public Humanities and Spring Haven Farm.
