Listening to the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

Featuring Michael A. Figueroa, Assistant Professor of Ethnomusicology

Professor Figueroa will describe how musicians have helped shape the violent conflict in Israel/Palestine and share his ethnographic fieldwork among the music scenes and contested sites of Jerusalem.

This event is part of the Sidney and Mary Schochet Family Series on Jewish Life and Culture

UNC alumni Jan Schochet ( ’75) and her brother, Barry ( ’69), have established the Schochet Family Series on Jewish Life and Culture in honor of their parents, Sidney (’40) and Mary Schochet. The gift is used to support faculty travel to community colleges around the state, specifically to share presentations on topics related to Judaism.
