Remembering Kristallnacht with Dr. Gerhard Weinberg
November 8, 2017 @ 11:00 am - 12:15 pm
This Special Event in Collaboration with Sandhills Community College is sponsored by The Vivian and Ralph Jacobson Sandhills Community College Fund for Holocaust and World War II Studies
This seminar will feature UNC Professor Emeritus Gerhard Weinberg as he presents The Pogrom of November 9-10, 1938, and Its Context in German Policy Toward Jews and Toward War
In November, 1939, the Nazi regime in Germany arranged for the arrest of some thirty thousand Jews, the destruction of Jewish houses of worship, and the looting and destruction of much Jewish property. This talk by a scholar who was kicked out of school in Hannover at that time and is now a retired professor of history at UNC will place the dramatic events of those days in their context of Hitler’s moves toward the Holocaust and his insistence on starting war in 1939.
There is no cost for this event, but reservations should be made by emailing Glenda Pope at popeg@sandhills.edu. The lecture is sponsored by the Vivian and Ralph Jacobson Sandhills Community College Holocaust and WWII Studies Fund.
