Join podcast host Zachary Davis and scholar Randall Styers for a lively conversation about the unexpected ways in which religion and science have been entangled across time.

Featuring:

Zachary Davis is the executive producer and host of the “Ministry of Ideas” podcast and vice president for premium content at Himalaya Media. He is a recent graduate of the Harvard Divinity School, where his work focused on intellectual history and philosophy of religion, and he helped to launch “Illuminations,” a limited series podcast about the untold friendship of religion and science.

Dr. Randall Styers is associate professor of Religion and Culture in the Department of Religious Studies at UNC-Chapel Hill. His research and teaching focus on religion in modern Western culture, particularly such topics as religion & the law, gender politics, and debates over the relation between religion and science. His most recent edited volume, “Magic in the Modern World: Strategies of Repression and Legitimation,” examines how magic and superstition were configured in order to be compatible with developing notions of modernity.

 

This event is free and open to the public, and will be hosted by Flyleaf Books.
