The Past, Present, and Future of the American Entrepreneur
November 9 @ 9:00 am - 12:30 pm
A Dialogues Seminar
Wouldn’t it be great to be your own boss? Since America’s founding, the idea of overseeing one’s own labor has fueled a national ethos of self-sufficiency, initiative, and risk taking. The result has been millions of productive small businesses in our nation’s history and—unfortunately for many—also millions of failed enterprises. This seminar explores our nation’s history of entrepreneurism, including its promises and pitfalls, and the current climate for self-made businesses in America. We will also learn how Carolina is preparing students to face the challenges and opportunities of self-employment as it trains entrepreneurs for an uncertain future.
