Deborah Stroman, Director, Sport Entrepreneurship and Community Engagement, Frank Hawkins Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise and Adjunct Associate Professor, Kenan-Flagler Business School

Deborah Stroman explores America’s love affair with sports. College athletics is so popular that ~ 45% of the U.S. follows college sports and more than 29 million attended a college sports event last year. With the increase in commercialization of sport and pressures in academia to provide value for all students, what are the leadership challenges to identify, measure, and evaluate the risks necessary to manage a successful athletics program? Can and should big-time athletics co-exist on elite college campuses today?
