“Goodbye to all that:” British Writers Remember World War I

The Great War had an enormous impact on the British people. A small number of prominent British writers played an especially important role in revealing to the public what the War was like. This talk will focus on two of the most influential: Siegfried Sassoon, celebrated as a war poet but also a writer of memoirs of his time in the trenches; and Robert Graves, a memoirist better known today as the author of I Claudius.

TIME: 4:30 to 6:00 p.m.
