Are Black Immigrants a Model Minority? *Cancelled*

October 2, 2018 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm

We are sorry that our planned Humanities in Action lecture, Are Blacks a Model Minority? by Dr. Mosi Ifatunji has been cancelled. While we are unable on short notice to offer a lecture on a similar topic, we have substituted the following program which may be of interest.

Why is Everyone Making “Dreyfus Affair” References These Days?

Max Owre will offer a recap of the scandal that divided France during the 1890s and lead a discussion on partisanship and polarization in Third Republic France and contemporary America. Come for what we hope is an historically-informed discussion of nationalism, identity politics, and the challenge of maintaining community in the midst of bitter conflict.

All programs are held from 4:30 to 6:00 pm at Flyleaf Books in Chapel Hill. Advance registrants can take advantage of our special FLYLEAF SEASON PASS and receive a discount on the purchase of all nine lectures.
