Flyleaf Music Series – Music Maker Foundation Book Launch with Blues Musician Gail Ceasar and Author Georgann Eubanks

February 28 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

featuring Gail Ceasar and Georgann Eubanks

Join us for an evening of music and conversation on the Flyleaf Stage.

This special, free, Flyleaf Music Series event will celebrate the launch of the sixth book from the Music Maker Foundation, Song Keepers: A Music Maker Foundation Anthology.

Gail Caesar was born in 1984 in Pittsville, Virginia; the small town that her family has called home for generations. Gail comes from a rich lineage of oral storytellers and musicians. She still remembers visits from her uncle, country bluesman Pete Witcher, who would sit her down to teach her the trade anytime he passed through town.

From a young age Gail was enchanted by bluegrass, and sat in on Saturday morning porch sessions at Poky’s Music in Gretna to hone her skills. Gail has found a beautiful sound of her own that melds the two genres. Ceasar’s original, “Guitar Woman Blues,” exemplifies this; it carries all the traits of a blues song, and sneaks in a classic bluegrass G run. Gail’s music reimagines generations of traditional tunes with incredible precision and depth of tone. Her gentle voice floats above her deft fingerwork, and listening to this album, you can imagine sitting round a porch, feeling right at home. “I hope it brings great enjoyment to everyone,” Gail shares.

Georgann Eubanks is a writer, teacher, and consultant to nonprofit groups across the country. She is director of the Table Rock Writers Workshop, was a founder of the North Carolina Writers’ Network, and is past chair of the North Carolina Humanities Council. She lives in Carrboro, N.C.
