February 21, 2017 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm

Featuring Michael Crimmins, Mary Ann Smith Distinguished Professor of Chemistry and Executive Director, the Chancellor’s Science Scholars

Active learning can be used to engage all types of students. Nowhere has adopting this practice changed teaching more than in the sciences. Michael Crimmins, winner of the 2016 Board of Governors’ Award for Excellence in Teaching, will discuss the redesign of introductory level science courses at UNC and how the new courses have impacted student performance and student perception of science.

Carolina’s Great Teachers events take place at Flyleaf Books, 752 MLK Jr. Blvd., in Chapel Hill. All run from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. There are no preparatory readings for Spotlight on Faculty events.
