Art of Asia: Court & Capital
June 16 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
In collaboration with the Ackland Art Museum
Ackland Art Museum’s new exhibition, Court and Capital presents the grand customs and fashions of Asian capital cities, examining their transition from feudal seats to modern cultural centers. From the splendor of the Mughal court to the bustling metropolis of nineteenth-century Edo to contemporary Hong Kong, Court and Capital celebrates the art of some of the largest and greatest cities in history. Join us for a wine and hors d’oeuvres reception at the Ackland where we’ll hear from Ackland’s new director Katie Ziglar, the curator of Asian Art Bradley Bailey, and a panel of experts, including artist and fine art appraiser Susan Rosefielde and Dr. Jan Bardsley from UNC’s Department of Asian Studies. After the brief panel, join the speakers in small groups as we tour the exhibit and take a closer look at these exquisite works of art.
6:30 – 8:30 pm . Friday, June 16, 2017. Registration is $20 per person.
