The Forgotten Soldiers: Women in the Military Service of Nazi Germany *Cancelled*

June 7, 2017 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Due to unforeseen circumstances, this Flyleaf Lecture has been canceled. We will contact all those who registered to provide a refund or transfer to another program. We apologize for any inconvenience.

featuring Karen Hagemann, James G. Kenan Distinguished Professor of History

The German government deployed more than a million women in war service between 1939 and 1945, but this aspect of Nazi history has received little attention.  Karen Hagemann will discuss how and why women served in the Nazi military system, and also explain why women’s military role in the Nazi era has been downplayed or ignored in the collective memory of World War II.

All Flyleaf Summer Series events take place at Flyleaf Books in Chapel Hill. There are no preparatory readings for these events.
